The Chief Minister IT Internship Program (CMITIP) is a flagship initiative launched by the Government of Punjab to significantly enhance the employability of the province’s fresh Information Technology (IT) graduates. This paid internship program is designed to provide selected candidates with hands-on, real-world industry experience by placing them in leading private-sector IT companies.
Program Highlights and Core Elements
This initiative is aimed at addressing the prevailing gap between theoretical knowledge acquired in universities and the practical skills required by the IT industry.
- Duration: The internship spans five (5) months, providing substantial time for interns to integrate into the corporate environment and contribute to real projects.
- Monthly Stipend: A highly competitive monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 is provided to each selected intern. This generous stipend aims to attract the brightest talent and provide financial support.
- Total Interns: A total of 2,000 interns are expected to be selected under this phase of the program.
- Goal: To equip graduates with market-driven digital skills, professional mentorship, and exposure, making them job-ready for the competitive local and global tech market.

1. Step 01: Profile Creation and Online Registration
Candidates must register and create a complete profile on the official program web portal. This involves filling out personal details, educational history, and contact information.
2. Step 02: Aptitude Test
Registered and eligible candidates will be required to appear for a mandatory Aptitude Test. This test is typically designed to assess their general IT knowledge, analytical skills, and core competency in their respective field of study.
3. Step 03: HEC Verification
The academic credentials (degrees/transcripts) of the shortlisted candidates are sent for verification to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ensure authenticity and maintain merit.
4. Step 04: Interview
Candidates who successfully pass the aptitude test and HEC verification stage will be called for a final Interview. The interview is usually conducted by a panel comprising officials from the government and representatives from the partnering IT industry.
5. Step 05: Final Selection and Placement
Based on the combined merit of academic performance, aptitude test scores, and interview results, the final list of 2,000 selected interns is compiled. They are then matched and placed with leading IT companies across Punjab.
